Position Information Holman Place School is a School for Specific Purposes catering for students from kindergarten through to year 12, located on Wiradjuri Land in Cowra, Central West NSW. Students are placed in our school through a placement panel application. The school is proud to educate students with a diverse range of disabilities including autism, mental health, and moderate and severe intellectual disabilities. The school has a current enrolment of 36 students who are supported by a talented teaching and support staff.

Current school priorities include further refining explicit teaching, enhanced transition pathways and school culture integrating Berry Street principles.

Holman Place School's vision is to become a Centre of Excellence in the provision and delivering of specialised education tailored for students with complex and unmet learning needs. We are dedicated to transforming from a traditional Support School Program (SSP) into a premier provider of innovative educational perspectives, strategies, and skills that address the unique requirements of our students.

Holman Place School is part of the Cowra Network of Schools, a highly collaborative team of principals and middle leaders who share expertise through Network Teams and priorities.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach infants and /or primary.

Evidence of expertise to confidently lead the school community in implementing enhanced explicit teaching strategies K - 12 including a cycle of regular evaluation to guide next steps.

Demonstrated evidence of success creating positive and continually improving learning cultures through the implementation of trauma informed practices along with strong and clear wellbeing systems.

Evidence of being a highly approachable and visible leader who can further develop a genuine culture of inclusion and authentic connections with parents, staff and the wider community.

Evidence of expertise collaborating with a network of schools, including local partner schools to ensure enhanced staff development opportunities and collaboration beyond the immediate school.

General Selection Criteria

High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2025 and Principal Level P1 for 2026.
