: 12-month contract with 1x12 month extension. Eligibility

: Australian citizenship with NV1 Security Clearance required. In office and working from home arrangements can be discussed.

The Role Seeking a Data Scientist for a contract opportunity, where you will work with one or more multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver digital services within the department. The successful candidate will bring an inquisitive and collaborative mindset to the team, building understanding of technical concepts in our non‑technical team members, and taking an open and pragmatic approach to solving problems.

Key duties

Aid teams in maximizing existing data and exploring new data sources.

Identify suitable data sources for user requirements and integrate them into user‑centric digital product features using various techniques like analysis, visualization, predictive modelling, and machine learning.

Help teams grasp the strategic aspects of data usage, encompassing privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst.

Extensive experience in large‑scale transformations.

Demonstrable experience in solving complex problems with data, not opinion.

Strong track record working in agile and multi‑disciplinary teams.

Understanding of machine‑learning and operations research.

Knowledge of R, SQL and Python.

Experience using Azure business intelligence tools such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Power BI.
