Legal Counsel

or

Senior Legal Counsel

to join the team. This rare opportunity is to work closely with our Group General Counsel in a privately owned, predominantly WA owned business in the aviation and tourism industries. You will report to the Group General Counsel and work closely with a range of stakeholders, gaining exposure to a broad range of business, governance/compliance, and operational activities within a high growth business. You will be empowered to make the role your own and drive business improvement processes.

Key duties and responsibilities

Proactively identify legal issues and requirements, and undertake research and analysis as required.

Provide commercial advice in an accurate and timely manner that is tailored to the business.

Liaise with relevant stakeholders on various issues and projects as required.

Responsible for drafting and negotiating a range of contract documentation, including terms and conditions.

Manage internal projects.

Manage external legal providers.

Prepare Board packs and assist with the identification and administration of governance issues.

Assist with the management of the insurance portfolio, including renewals processes and claims.

Manage contract administration and maintain the business’s contract management platform.

About you

Bachelor of Laws or equivalent, and a current WA legal practising certificate.

5 to 7 years’ post admission experience, with a focus on commercial law.

In‑house experience is desirable.

Demonstrated legal experience in relevant or comparable areas of law.

Experience in drafting contracts, preparing regulatory advice, and working directly with clients and stakeholders.

Demonstrated capacity to take instruction, ensure procedures are followed and appropriately involve key stakeholders.

Ability to negotiate, demonstrate assertiveness, prioritise and adapt to a dynamic workplace.

Proven abilities in decision‑making, analysing problems and making independent judgements.

Capacity to conduct all activity in an ethical, professional and efficient manner that upholds the values and best practices of the organisation.
