Job Description
The Role
Reporting to the Board, the CEO is responsible for the overall leadership, management and performance of the Club. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong operational capability, sound judgement, understanding of best practice governance, and the ability to build trust with key stakeholders.
The appointed CEO will provide leadership across racing operations, commercial performance, people and culture, compliance, stakeholder engagement and long-term planning, ensuring the Club operates sustainably and in line with community and industry expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Implement the Club’s strategic plan and deliver agreed performance outcomes
Lead the day-to-day operations of the Club, ensuring high standards across racing, events, hospitality and facilities
Provide clear, accurate and timely reporting to the Board
Build and maintain strong relationships with Racing Victoria, Country Racing Victoria, industry bodies, sponsors, members and the local community
Ensure robust governance, risk management and compliance with all regulatory and integrity requirements
Lead, develop and support staff, fostering a positive, accountable and professional workplace culture
Drive commercial performance, including revenue growth, cost control and asset utilisation
Represent the Club professionally and positively within the racing industry and broader community
About You
You are an experienced and grounded senior leader, ideally with a background in racing, sport, events, hospitality or another regulated industry. You demonstrate sound judgement, integrity and strong emotional intelligence, and are confident operating in a high visibility, stakeholder rich environment.
You will also demonstrate:
Proven experience working with a Board and understanding governance expectations
Strong leadership and people-management skills
Commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting and reporting
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management capability
A values-based approach aligned with professionalism, accountability and trust
The ability to manage complex issues calmly and decisively
