Lead SATC’s in-house creative & content team and direct its output

At the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC), we’re passionate about South Australia and dedicated to making a positive impact on our tourism sector. We believe travel is about meaningful connections - not transactions - and that people crave experiences that enrich and inspire.

Our team champions the simple pleasures that make our state unique, working together to create authentic, memorable moments for visitors and locals alike. Guided by Aboriginal care for place and community, inspired by regenerative principles, and committed to diversity and belonging, we see tourism as a way to bring people closer - to each other, to our communities, and to the land we love.

At the SATC you’ll find a team that’s collaborative, creative, and always striving to do things differently. Here, every voice counts and every story matters - you’ll be respected and make a meaningful impact as we celebrate shared values, diverse experiences, and collective success. We’re proud to champion South Australia’s spirit - warm, generous, and down-to-earth - and we’re committed to making our state a place where every visitor feels at home.

About the role

As Director, Creative & Content, you’ll be the driving force of our in-house creative & content team and help direct all creative output across SATC’s portfolio, including both destination and event brands. With a unique opportunity to strengthen our in-house agency model, you’ll champion the creative vision, lead the creative and content team, and set the standard for quality, originality, and creative consistency. You’ll guide the development, execution, and refinement of campaigns that invite travellers to slow down, dig deeper, and discover the abundance of experiences waiting in South Australia.

This isn’t just another creative role. It’s your chance to nurture a collaborative and innovative culture, working alongside passionate teams, external agencies, and industry leaders to deliver disruptive, globally competitive marketing ideas that elevate South Australia’s profile.

What you’ll do

- Shape creative vision: Help develop and articulate the creative direction for all SATC brand and campaign initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and brand guidelines.

- Champion creative excellence: Lead, inspire, and mentor your team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages best-practice ideation and creative problem-solving.

- Drive innovation: Oversee the end-to-end creative process, from concept development to execution, ensuring all outputs meet the highest standards of quality and originality.

- Collaborate and influence: Work closely with internal stakeholders and external creative agencies to deliver integrated, impactful campaigns.

- Lead with heart:

Promote professional growth, continuous improvement, and a culture of creativity and inclusion within the team.

- Connect and communicate: Build influential relationships with government, media, creative partners, and tourism industry leaders, advocating for South Australia at every level.

Who you are

You are an accomplished creative leader with a proven track record of guiding the ideation and execution of large-scale, integrated campaigns. Your ability to translate strategic vision into creative ideas is complemented by your collaborative approach and aptitude for generating innovative solutions to complex challenges. You consistently demonstrate resilience, keen insight, and a strong commitment to driving positive change.

You possess extensive expertise in creative strategy and ideation, with a thorough understanding of brand strategy and marketing science. Your proficiency in interpreting strategic marketing issues enables you to develop engaging creative concepts and effective advertising solutions.

Your background includes significant experience within creative advertising agencies, as well as managing creative resources and overseeing high-quality production deliverables - often under demanding timelines in fast-paced, in-house agency settings. You excel at incorporating digital platforms and emerging technologies into campaigns, remaining proactive in adapting to evolving content trends and audience needs.

As a seasoned people manager, you inspire, mentor, and cultivate high-performing creative teams, promoting a culture of innovation and inclusivity. You actively welcome and celebrate diversity of thought and cultural identities through ensuring cultural safety, understanding, and recognise diverse experiences and backgrounds enrich creative output and fosters more meaningful engagement.

You lead by example, fostering open communication, continuous professional development, and a steadfast commitment to SATC’s values. Your leadership supports teams through periods of change, encourages ongoing learning, and advances diversity and inclusive storytelling throughout all campaigns, ensuring every voice is valued and represented.

You are able to build and maintain robust relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including internal SATC staff, government representatives, external agencies, and industry leaders. Your strong communication skills enable you to align interests, advocate for creative excellence, and generate support for key initiatives. You are a skilled presenter and experienced in presenting to executive teams, boards and large audiences.

Your experience includes:

- Leading creative direction and integrated campaigns from concept to execution.

- Working in and with creative advertising agencies.

- Managing creative resources and production requirements.

- Inspiring and mentoring creative professionals.

- Using audience insights and data to guide content direction.

- Communicating with executive leadership and boards.

- Managing budgets and complex projects.

- Championing diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

This is your opportunity to drive creative transformation from the inside out - shaping how South Australia’s stories are told. As Director, Creative & Content, you’ll lead the evolution of our in-house creative & content team, championing new ways of thinking, working, and collaborating. You’ll have the freedom to set new standards for creative excellence, inspire original ideas, and embed innovation at every level of the organisation.

You’ll be empowered to nurture a culture where creativity thrives, guiding talented teams and forging robust partnerships to deliver work that stands out locally and globally.

As an organisation dedicated to reconciliation, involving and engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is essential. We believe that embracing a mix of ideas and experiences drives innovation, challenges assumptions, and helps us create bold solutions for South Australia’s tourism future. That is why, we encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, cultures, and experiences – including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and those living with a disability – to join us in shaping a vibrant and inclusive tourism industry for South Australia.
