We are recruiting two Senior Software Engineers to join our high-performing engineering organisation:

These are senior technical roles for engineers who thrive in complex environments, own solutions end-to-end, and want their work to directly support national security outcomes.
About The Roles
Senior Software Engineer — Radar Applications
This role focuses on designing and implementing software that delivers real-time radar performance. You’ll work across radar algorithms, sensor data flows, and real-time processing pipelines collaborating with radar scientists, systems engineers, and hardware teams to translate research into robust, deployable software.
You Will:
Develop and optimise radar algorithms in C++/Python
Work with signal processing pipelines and sensor interfaces
Build high-performance, low‑latency software modules
Integrate software with embedded systems and distributed compute environments
Ensure reliability, throughput, and performance in mission‑critical applications
Senior Software Engineer — Applications & Services
This role is a key technical leader within the Applications & Services team, responsible for building the internal applications, integrations, and platform services that power Silentium Defence’s engineering and operational workflows.
You Will:
Architect system components, interfaces, workflows and service boundaries
Build internal applications, APIs, automation tools, and integrations using NodeJS, JavaScript, Python, and Linux-based services
Improve tooling, documentation, automation and operational readiness
Ensure reliability and monitoring across internal systems
Collaborate deeply with Radar, Production, Research, Trials and Business teams to deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions
Mentor engineers, uplift standards and reduce technical friction across teams
What You’ll Bring (Both Roles)
Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or similar
5+ years’ professional software engineering experience
Radar Applications role : Strong proficiency in
C++
and proficiency in
Python
is desirable.
Apps & Services role:
Strong proficiency
Python
and proficiency in
NodeJS
is desirable.
Linux experience and strong systems‑level understanding
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement
Ability to simplify complexity, write clear documentation, and design clean interfaces
Ownership mindset with commitment to high‑quality, maintainable solutions
Australian Citizenship (NV1 eligibility required)
Role‑Specific Skills
Radar Applications
Radar, EW, RF, DSP, simulation or real‑time processing experience
Strong maths/algorithm background
Experience integrating software with hardware, sensors or embedded platforms
Understanding of system timing, throughput and performance constraints
Applications & Services
Architectural leadership, system design and integration experience
Strong NodeJS, JavaScript, Python and Linux engineering capability
Experience designing APIs, automation workflows or internal platforms
Ability to raise standards across tooling, documentation and engineering practices
Capability to mentor and uplift engineering skills across the organisation
