\*\*About the Role\*\*:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated Paediatric Consultant to join the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN). This pivotal role sits within our Multidisciplinary Outpatient Service and offers the chance to contribute to high‑quality paediatric care across a dynamic and expanding health network.

As a Paediatric Consultant, you will play a central role in managing the care of patients allocated to you, working collaboratively with a skilled multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities may extend to the care of admitted patients, as well as providing expert support to the Emergency Department in the management of critically unwell paediatric patients. In addition, you may participate in after‑hours on‑call rosters across Paediatrics, Neonatology and/or Child Protection, as determined by the Head of Unit.

Your contribution will also be integral to our commitment to continuous improvement. You will be involved in quality improvement activities, auditing, and the mentoring of multidisciplinary team members. Teaching is an important component of this role, with opportunities to support trainees across all levels and disciplines. You will also engage in ongoing training and CPD requirements and may participate in or encourage clinical research within the service.

A strong commitment to equitable, compassionate care is essential. You will work closely with other divisions and services within NALHN, as well as external health providers and the broader community,

to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.

To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

You will bring a high level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary leadership environment. Your ability to build and maintain professional networks, and to relate sensitively to children, young people, families and service providers, will be central to your success.

You will demonstrate robust clinical judgement, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, both at the individual and team level. A commitment to quality management, adaptability to change, and a collaborative approach with medical practitioners, nurses, midwives and allied health professionals are essential.

Your background will include experience in teaching and training junior medical staff, along with demonstrated capability in General Paediatrics.

You will possess sound knowledge of contemporary medical practice, investigations, treatments and procedures relevant to the role, including behavioural and developmental paediatrics.
