Overview
We’re currently hiring for an experienced
Director of Power Systems
to join our client who is a leading consultancy focused on Power Engineering. This leadership role will be instrumental in designing, analyzing, and optimizing power systems while driving innovation in the energy sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power systems modeling, team management, and profit and loss (P&L) accountability. You will play a pivotal role in shaping organizational goals, providing technical leadership, and ensuring successful project delivery in an inclusive and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Lead the development, analysis, and optimization of power systems using industry‑standard tools such as
PSSE ,
PSCAD , and
PowerFactory .
Develop and execute departmental strategies to meet organizational objectives related to sustainable energy and power systems growth.
Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team of power systems engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Oversee operational and financial performance of the Power Systems Division, taking full ownership of
P&L
responsibilities.
Drive research and analysis on power system topics, including grid integration, renewable energy, energy storage, and system reliability.
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.
Implement quality assurance standards to meet technical and regulatory compliance.
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives throughout the organization’s processes and programs.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field (PhD preferred).
Proven experience in power systems analysis and design using tools like
PSSE ,
PSCAD , and
PowerFactory .
A strong track record in managing teams and driving technical excellence in power systems projects.
Demonstrated experience in managing division‑level budgets and operations with accountability for
profit and loss (P&L)
outcomes.
Deep understanding of energy systems, including renewable energy integration, grid stability, and distributed energy resources.
Exceptional communication and leadership skills with the ability to engage technical and non‑technical audiences.
Preferred
Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or equivalent certification.
Experience working in diverse, global teams and promoting DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) practices.
Expertise in advanced grid topics, including microgrids, smart grids, and energy storage systems.
Familiarity with evolving energy regulations, emerging technologies, and market trends.
Day‑to‑Day
Lead regular team strategy and technical review meetings, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Collaborate with engineers to review power systems models and deliver actionable insights for client projects.
Oversee budgets, monitor key performance indicators, and present financial updates to the executive team.
Support team members through coaching and career development activities, promoting sustained growth and learning opportunities.
Engage with stakeholders, delivering clear, actionable communication on project progress, challenges, and solutions.
Stay current on industry advancements, advocating for the adoption of cutting‑edge tools and methodologies.
Continuously promote an inclusive and respectful workplace culture that values diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
