CFA Society Australia CFA Society Australia is the professional membership body representing over 3500 investment management professionals across Australia. With Chapters based in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, CFA Society Australia represents the global CFA Institute in the Australian market. CFA Society Australia provides services to members and candidates of the CFA Program. Primary activities include advocacy, industry engagement, university engagement, and member services including educational and social events.

The Society aims to lead the investment profession in Australia by promoting the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence for the ultimate benefit of society.

The Role The Engagement Director is a business development and external engagement role responsible for leading CFA Society Australia’s market presence, strategic relationships and sustainable commercial growth across Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. The role has a primary focus on building, managing and growing relationships with employers and industry within the Victorian investment community, while representing CFA Society Australia locally and supporting member and volunteer engagement.

Role Responsibilities

Lead business development activities in Victoria, building, managing and growing deep relationships with employers, executing the CFA Society Australia Employer Engagement Strategy with local firms.

Drive commercial outcomes, including securing sponsorships, learning partnerships, and increasing awareness and signatories to CFA Institute codes and standards.

Identify, develop, and convert new partnership and revenue opportunities aligned to CFA Society Australia’s strategy.

Ensure CRM data remains current and supports pipeline visibility and reporting.

Maintain strong relationships with universities in Victoria and Tasmania to support new Level I (NLI) candidate growth and CFA program awareness.

Manage the Victorian Chapter Council and collaborate with local volunteers to ensure delivery of high-quality, relevant member events and services in line with the CFA Society Australia national strategy and local needs.

Be the key connection between the Victorian Chapter Council and the CFA Society Australia Management Team.

Consult with the management team to ensure that national initiatives are delivered and align with local market needs where appropriate.

Work closely with the Melbourne-based Events Manager to ensure local events align with the national strategy and needs of the local Chapter.

Ensure activities are delivered within budget and resources.

Required Skills & Experience

Industry knowledge and established contacts within the investment management industry in Australia.

Demonstrated experience in business development, partnership growth, or commercial relationship management, ideally within professional services, financial services, or membership-based organisations.

A high level of experience managing stakeholders with competing demands.

Ability to coordinate multiple initiatives, projects, and events across a range of delivery methods.

Self-starter, highly organised, with the ability to work autonomously, to be adaptable and able to follow through on tasks to completion.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Ability to represent the organisation with external stakeholders including employers, universities, and senior industry professionals.

Experience in effectively managing and working to governance requirements.

CFA charterholder, or CFA program candidate would be looked upon favourably.

Key Outcomes

Growth in the number of firms actively supporting CFA Society Australia activities, and measurable commercial return from industry relationships, including sponsorship revenue, learning partnerships and signatories to CFA Institute codes and standards.

Member satisfaction of >70%; member retention of >88%

Growth in NLI candidates in line with or exceeding annual targets.

Managing finances within set budgets with no excesses
