Associate Lawyer

Astoria Legal is seeking an experienced part-time Family Lawyer to join their dynamic team in Brighton, VIC. In this flexible, part-time role, you will be providing high-quality legal advice and representation to clients on a range of family law matters. Experience in other practice areas is favourable but not essential. What you'll be doing

Advising clients on divorce, separation, child custody, property settlements, and other family law issues Drafting and reviewing legal documents such as divorce petitions, consent orders, affidavits, applications, subpoenas, consent orders, minutes of order, other court documents and financial agreements Liaising with barristers, and assisting with hearing and trial preparation Attending court events, mediations, and client conferences as required Conducting legal research and analysis to support client matters Maintaining a strong understanding of changes in family law legislation and case law Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and other legal professionals Managing files, including strict compliance with court timetables and procedural obligations What we're looking for

4+ years of post-admission experience in family law Strong legal research and writing skills Excellent communication and negotiation abilities Thorough knowledge of family law legislation and case law Demonstrated ability to handle a diverse caseload and prioritise tasks effectively A compassionate and empathetic approach when working with clients Flexibility to work part-time hours Ability to work on a negotiable part-time schedule Experience briefing counsel and working with barristers A practical, strategic, and client-focused approach The ability to work autonomously within a boutique practice environment What we offer
