Independent Director - Health & Wellbeing

📍 Australia

Healthcare Kick It Out

Job Description

A BIT ABOUT US Since our founding in 1986, we have been at the heart of the game within the independent sector, championing football as a force for opportunity, character, and community.

Over nearly four decades, ISFA has played a pivotal role in the growth of football across independent schools nationwide.

Our programme is wide-ranging and inclusive:

Competitions for girls and boys aged 11–18, culminating in prestigious Finals played at professional club grounds and at the home of English Football, St George’s Park.

Festivals and tournaments that bring schools together in celebration of the game.

A National Representative programme, respected across the football community, where players proudly earn the honour of a national cap. Fixtures include matches against Academy teams from Premier League clubs as well as international fixtures against visiting school sides from Australia, Wales, and Scotland.

Supports the continued growth of intra‑school house football, ensuring the game thrives at its grassroots within school communities.

ISFA is more than an organiser of fixtures—it is a forward‑looking organisation committed to shaping the future of football in schools. By partnering with progressive, ambitious companies, we can grow the game further, inspire the next generation, and deliver meaningful value to those who want to be part of this dynamic sector.

A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE The Health & Wellbeing Director plays a vital role in shaping ISFA’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of everyone involved in independent school football. This is a Board‑level position that ensures health and wellbeing considerations are central to ISFA’s strategy, culture and decision‑making, and that the organisation consistently upholds the highest standards of duty of care.

Working closely with the CEO and fellow Directors, the postholder provides insight, guidance and constructive challenge on wellbeing‑related risks, policies and cultural expectations. They help the Board maintain clear oversight of issues such as mental health, emotional safety, organisational culture and the lived experiences of young people and staff, while supporting executive colleagues in navigating sensitive or complex situations.

The role also serves as a trusted and accessible point of escalation for individuals across the ISFA community, ensuring concerns can be raised safely and responded to appropriately. By championing a culture where wellbeing is prioritised and embedded in everyday practice, the Director strengthens ISFA’s reputation as a responsible, inclusive and values‑driven organisation that puts people — and their experience of football — at the heart of its mission.
