Avanti Health Centres is a privately owned health and wellness business focused on healthy ageing, fitness and re‑ablement for over‑50s Australians. The business operates a network of gym‑based centres, supported by allied health services delivered on‑site within Avanti centres and through established off‑site partnerships.
With six centres operating today and further expansion planned, Avanti is appointing a General Manager to lead the business through its next phase of growth and operating maturity.
This is a true general management role with accountability for performance, people and profit.
Why this role is different
This role is about running the business. You will lead a multi‑site operation spanning gym operations and clinical services, with a strong focus on gym performance, membership growth and retention, utilisation, staffing, cost control and financial outcomes. You will implement the strategic plan, manage budgets and cashflow, establish clear KPIs, oversee shared corporate services, and ensure the business operates with discipline, consistency and commercial rigour. You will work closely with the Board and CEO, providing clear reporting and leadership as founders step back from day‑to‑day operations.
Who this role will suit
This role will suit an experienced general manager who has led multi‑site, consumer‑facing service businesses and is comfortable owning a P&L. You understand how membership‑based models are optimised through strong centre‑level performance, while balancing growth ambition with financial control. You are commercially sharp, practical and know how to add structure without slowing the business down.
What you’ll bring
Experience leading or operating a growing, multi‑site service business
Strong commercial and financial literacy with genuine P&L accountability
Ability to balance growth with margin and cost discipline
A people‑first leadership style that builds capability
Credibility leading operational and clinical teams
Experience in fitness, allied health, healthcare or adjacent service environments will be well regarded, but is not essential.
What you’ll be accountable for
Operational leadership across all centres
Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
Performance of gym operations and membership outcomes
Leadership of clinical services through divisional management
Oversight of shared services and outsourced providers
Risk management, compliance and Board reporting
Execution of growth and expansion plans
What success looks like
Within 12–24 months, the business is operating with pace and clarity. Growth is executed with discipline, financial performance is predictable, new centres are integrated smoothly, and a capable leadership team is driving performance.
