Alumni Global are proud to partner with Metro North Health in the search for an executive leader to join their organisation as Chief Finance and Corporate Officer (CFCO). This is a rare and significant opportunity to shape the financial and corporate strategy of one of Queensland’s largest and most complex health services.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the CFCO is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and plays a pivotal role in guiding the organisation’s long‑term sustainability, performance and governance.

Metro North Health is one of the largest and most diverse Hospital and Health Services in Queensland, delivering care across multiple hospitals and community facilities. Situated in Herston, directly opposite the future athletes’ village and major stadium precinct, Metro North Health is uniquely positioned within Brisbane’s evolving global events landscape.

With an annual operating budget of approximately $5 billion, oversight of $5.85 billion in building and clinical equipment assets, and responsibility for major Department‑led capital expansion projects totalling $4.73 billion, Metro North Health operates at significant scale and complexity.

We are committed to delivering high quality, connected healthcare and to fostering a culture grounded in respect, teamwork, compassion, high performance and integrity. We actively encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and are deeply committed to advancing health equity and eliminating institutional racism across our services.

About the Role The Chief Finance and Corporate Officer leads the development and execution of Metro North Health’s financial strategy, ensuring responsible stewardship of significant public resources within one of Australia’s largest and most complex health services.

Operating at considerable scale, and within an established three‑year financial framework, the role supports the organisation to strengthen performance, enhance financial sustainability and continue building a positive, high‑performing culture across a geographically dispersed service. The breadth of the portfolio requires a leader who can bring clarity, alignment and consistency across diverse facilities, clinical streams and corporate functions.

The CFCO oversees financial management, budgeting and forecasting, commercial strategy, procurement, legal services, health information, governance, and sustainable assets and infrastructure. With eight direct reports and responsibility for approximately 880 FTE across multiple corporate functions, the role provides executive leadership across a significant and diverse portfolio.

Metro North Health is progressing an important innovation agenda, presenting a valuable opportunity for a leader who can work in genuine partnership with stakeholders and clinicians to support meaningful and sustainable change. The role calls for balanced judgement, backing innovation and service improvement while maintaining financial discipline and identifying efficiencies where appropriate.

You will provide high‑quality financial modelling and performance insights to inform planning, support Board and executive decision‑making, and ensure strong governance, risk management and statutory compliance. You will also contribute to strengthening capability within the corporate portfolio, including supporting recruitment and the ongoing development of a cohesive and high‑performing team.

About You You are an accomplished senior executive with substantial experience leading complex financial and corporate portfolios within large, multifaceted organisations.

Qualifications and Registration Degree qualification in Business or Commerce (mandatory).

Registration or membership with a recognised professional accounting body (mandatory).

Experience and Capability Demonstrated success in leading large‑scale financial operations, governance and risk management frameworks.

Proven ability to deliver strategic financial advice at Board and executive level.

Strong commercial acumen, including experience evaluating major capital and partnership opportunities.

Exceptional leadership capability, with experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams.

Deep understanding of public sector accountability and statutory compliance.

Personal Attributes You bring thoughtful leadership, sound judgement and a collaborative approach to change. You build strong relationships, communicate with clarity and integrity, and are comfortable working within complexity and scale. You are committed to high performance, respectful engagement and advancing equitable, culturally safe health services.

This is a career‑defining executive opportunity to influence the strategic direction and financial sustainability of a major health service that delivers care to diverse and growing communities.

At Metro North Health, you will join a progressive, values‑driven organisation that places people at the centre of everything we do. We are committed to inclusion, flexibility, professional development and creating an environment where leaders can make a meaningful and lasting impact.
