Job Summary
The Senior Compliance Officer or AVP, Compliance Officer will assist with providing compliance advice and services to support Allied World Australia wholesale and retail general insurance business activities for compliance with APRA, ASIC and other applicable regulatory and industry requirements.
Job Duties
Develop and execute an annual local compliance plan and provide relevant regulatory and compliance policy updates and advice to management and colleagues
Carry out compliance reviews and trainings, and ensure appropriate controls and mechanisms are in place to manage compliance requirements
Serve in any designated local compliance officer-related roles, as needed and assigned
Communicate with and assist in managing relationships with APRA, ASIC and other relevant authorities and trade associations
Maintain knowledge of the Australia branch’s current business activities, and maintain awareness of laws and regulations to ensure compliance and update the business, as needed
Manage relationships with other legal, risk, compliance and company colleagues to contribute to and implement Group initiatives, share best practices and enable effective communication and understanding of global/regional legal, risk and compliance issues
Assist with compliance for Allied World’s other Asia Pacific branches, as needed
Manage special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum six years of compliance experience in the financial services sector
Experience with insurance and reinsurance (particularly P&C and A&H business), data protection, sanctions, anti-money laundering, and anti-bribery and corruption matters within Australia and Asia Pacific
Experience dealing with APRA and ASIC and other regulators in Asia Pacific
Knowledge of Australia laws and regulations and other Asia Pacific jurisdictions
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Excellent communication (written and verbal), as well as strong interpersonal skills
Ability to consider local, regional and Group business considerations when providing compliance advice
Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment
