We’re working with a large, well-established Qld Government organisation that operates an in-house legal function handling a

diverse and genuinely interesting litigation practice .

The team is growing, and they’re looking for an experienced litigator to step into a

Managing Lawyer

role, leading a small team of lawyers and paralegals.

This is not a policy or advisory role. It’s a

proper litigation position , just without the billables.

The Role

Lead and mentor a

small team (4–5 lawyers/paralegals)

Run and oversee

complex litigation

across a broad mix of matters

Appear in courts and tribunals as required

Set strategy, manage risk and ensure matters are progressed efficiently

Work closely with internal stakeholders rather than external “clients”

Balance hands-on file work with people leadership and quality control

About You You’ll likely have:

A solid background as a

litigator

(private practice or in-house)

Experience

supervising or managing junior lawyers

Confidence running matters autonomously and making judgment calls

A pragmatic, calm approach to complex or sensitive disputes

A genuine interest in coaching and developing people
