Job Description
This role provides specialist engineering support across all aspects of asset management, including maintenance, design, construction, upgrades and modifications to branch assets. It also oversees third‑party access to the PTA rail network, ensuring PTA assets are safeguarded throughout all works. The position plays a key part in maintaining the performance and reliability of infrastructure by ensuring all activities meet PTA and regulatory requirements.
As a senior contributor within the branch, the role supports operational performance through technical leadership, coaching and mentoring, and active engagement in safety and continuous improvement initiatives. It provides expert technical advice on designs, standards and documentation, assists with planning and delivery of maintenance and renewal works, and contributes to risk, policy and performance processes. The role may also coordinate or support engineering projects and renewal programs, ensuring works are delivered to required standards and aligned with PTA objectives.
About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) either Civil or Structural Engineering with extensive experience in planning, designing and delivering maintenance or construction works in an operational, asset‑intensive environment, including application of asset management frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to lead, guide and support others to achieve agreed team outcomes.
Well‑developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate, facilitate, prepare clear technical reports and build effective stakeholder relationships.
Able to interpret complex issues, apply sound conceptual and analytical thinking, and resolve technical and operational challenges.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet targets through effective teamwork and delegation, supported by self‑awareness, commitment to personal development and strong safety leadership.

There is one permanent full‑time opportunity available for an immediate start.
This is a pool recruitment process where suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies both fixed term and permanent that may arise within the next 12 months.
