Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Director Commercial to support Australian and Indian business units with commercial strategies to deliver projects within the mineral processing industry. This role will oversee both pre-contract phases and administration of contracts in development and engineering services divisions within Sedgman. The ideal candidate will have experience in development and negotiation of project execution contracts.
The Director Commercial will be accountable for:
Drive stakeholder engagement through building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support successful project outcomes and minimise commercial risk
Collaborate effectively across functions working closely with all business units to ensure alignment on commercial strategies and contractual frameworks.
Provide expert and strategic commercial and contract negotiation advice to the development and engineering teams, with commercial insights and analysis to inform business development strategies and contract administration decisions, demonstrating strong strategic decision-making
Participate in head contract negotiation interactions with clients
Assist in resolution of major contractual and commercial issues for development and engineering services contracts and provide advice as requested
Audit the compliance with Company contract administration policy and procedures
Proactively engage with external parties as required (CIMIC risk, clients)
The role will include interface with the Legal department, Project Development Mangers and Projects Group Manager Commercial, to improve commercial models and project outcomes for Sedgman.
Lead and motivate employees by setting direction and expectations, managing performance and encouraging continuous improvement and a culture of feedback
Ensure adequate planning and resourcing of work and HSE systems occurs prior to work being undertaken or changes being implemented
In consultation with the HSE team, ensure injured personnel are managed in accordance with workplace rehabilitation processes relevant to the jurisdiction
You are an experienced leader demonstrating the following qualities:
Bachelor Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Process engineering disciplines)
Post Graduate Contract Law, or Commercial qualification or equivalent
10+ years’ experience in engineering services and project delivery contract negotiations and claim management
In-depth understanding of commercial models used in EPC, EPCM, engineering and procurement, services
Expert negotiating and client relationship development skills
Ability to develop commercial strategy and achieve objectives
Team building and leadership skills
Superior management and organisational skills
High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas
Ability to deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and engineering service areas
