Open to Senior Associate or Special Counsel with Defendant Insurance exp

Duties & Responsibilities
In this senior position, you will manage a diverse and sophisticated caseload including:
Handling predominantly Professional Indemnity claims with some Public Liability defence work
Running matters from first notification through to resolution or trial
Drafting pleadings, advices and complex legal documentation
Appearing in mediations and negotiations
Managing litigated and non‑litigated disputes
Working with a range of professionals including:
Engineers, architects and construction professionals
Accountants, IT professionals and allied health practitioners
Real estate agents, valuers and other insured professionals
Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers and paralegals
Building strong relationships with long‑term insurer clients
Unlike traditional firms, you won’t be juggling dozens of unrelated clients – you’ll work closely with a core client base where you can see the direct impact of your work on real outcomes.

Average hours 8.30am–5.30pm (maximum around 45 hours per week)
No expectation of regular late nights or weekends
You are perfect if you have:
5–10+ years PAE in defendant insurance litigation
Strong experience in Professional Indemnity matters
Experience in Public Liability / Personal Injury Defence work
Solid technical drafting and advocacy skills
Confidence to run matters autonomously
A commercial, pragmatic approach to disputes
A genuine interest in mentoring junior lawyers
A collaborative, positive and team‑oriented mindset
