We’re looking for an experienced

Security Engineer

to join our Technology Risk & Security function and play a critical role in strengthening Adica’s technical security capability across platforms, infrastructure and cloud, within a highly regulated (APRA‑aligned) insurance environment.

About the Role Working in the Security Squad team and reporting to the Technology Risk and Security Team. The Security Engineer is a key member responsible for designing, implementing and uplifting technical security controls across the organisation.

This is a

12‑month fixed term contract

opportunity. The role has a strong engineering and architecture focus, working within the Information Security Squad to resolve security gaps and uplift Adica’s security capability. You’ll help drive Adica’s response to threats and vulnerabilities, provide expert security advice, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our security frameworks, tooling and practices.

What You’ll Be Responsible For Design and implement technical security controls, remediations and solutions aligned with Adica’s Information security requirements and best practice engineering principles.

Provide secure design guidance and technical security advice to Technology teams and business units.

Review existing infrastructure, cloud platforms and tools, recommending improvements to Adica’s overall security posture.

Develop and maintain clear documentation of security architecture, standards and technical controls.

Contribute to the ongoing uplift of Adica’s Information Security Management Framework and security policies.

Stay current with emerging cyber security engineering practices.

Participate in incident response activities and support investigations when security incidents occur.

Work closely with Architecture and Delivery teams to ensure security requirements are embedded and delivered effectively.

What You’ll Bring Strong technical security expertise, sound judgement and a collaborative mindset, including:

5–10 years’ experience in cyber security, with hands‑on experience in security engineering roles.

Deep understanding of cyber security principles, threat landscapes and common attack vectors.

Strong experience with Microsoft and Azure security platforms, tooling and secure cloud architecture.

Experience designing and evaluating secure architectures across public and private cloud environments.

Solid understanding of enterprise architecture, modern development practices, containerisation and DevOps concepts.

Knowledge of financial services security requirements, including APRA CPS 234 (highly desirable).

Familiarity with security and IT frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST and OWASP.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex security concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

A proactive, accountable mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Relevant tertiary qualifications and industry certifications (e.g. ISC2, ISACA, CompTIA, Microsoft) are desirable.
