Job Description

Role Overview These professional positions, within the high‑performing Engineering Division, lead the delivery and supervision of critical water, sewer and civil infrastructure projects across the region.

Location: Murwillumbah, New South Wales. Type: Full‑time.

Responsibilities Foreman Contracts

Work alongside Project Managers and Engineers and other engineering staff to supervise and coordinate Council’s construction contracts and projects from planning through to delivery.

Lead on building‑focused projects while also contributing to a broad range of works, including water and sewer infrastructure, road construction, waste management facilities and maritime structures.

Support the effective delivery of projects by providing on‑site direction, coordinating resources and ensuring work meets required standards, specifications and safety expectations.

Supervisor Contracts

Provide day‑to‑day supervision and coordination of engineering contracts and construction projects delivered by external contractors on behalf of Council.

Support Project Managers and Engineers by undertaking delegated tasks and contributing to contract oversight, project progress monitoring and site‑based duties as required.

Allocate and schedule staff, contractors and plant to ensure all contract and Council project components are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with approved specifications.

Manage the procurement of goods and services associated with contracts, applying strong technical knowledge to achieve timely, cost‑effective and compliant project delivery with high level of Quality Management.

Supervise and mentor Construction Foremen, while maintaining effective communication with management, engineering staff, consultants, contractors and community members.

Provide the above services for dedicated specialist major capital works projects such as duplication of Tweed Coast Road at Cudgen.

What's On Offer

Multiple positions available.

Base salary depending upon skills, knowledge and experience. Job Grade is determined by the panel as follows:

Job Grade 5‑ (Foreman Contracts) from $74,572 per annum with competency‑based increments up to $87,551 per annum, plus 12% super.

Job Grade 6‑ (Supervisor Contracts) from $84,316 per annum with competency‑based increments up to $99,874 per annum, plus 12% super.

70‑hour, 9 day fortnight.

Vehicle/Vehicle allowance may be available, subject to role requirements.

We Are Seeking

Relevant trade certificate and/or the capability to manage procurement, contract requirements and project resources to support timely and efficient project delivery.

Demonstrated competence in construction gained through extensive field experience, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings, contract documentation and apply sound technical judgement across a range of project types.

Strong supervisors capable of leading minor and major multidisciplinary contracts and projects, coordinating crews, plant and contractors, and delivering quality outcomes safely, efficiently and within required timeframes.

Skilled construction professionals with proven experience in concrete structures, pipework and roadworks, and (where applicable) working knowledge of water and sewer infrastructure construction, operation and maintenance.

Solid understanding of OHS and environmental requirements, and the ability to apply these effectively in a practical construction environment.

Team leaders who can supervise, coordinate and mentor staff, manage day‑labour works, resolve conflicts effectively and engage professionally with the community when handling enquiries or complaints.

Where It's Located This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
