Our client, a leading national Australian law firm, is seeking a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join its highly regarded Insolvency & Commercial Disputes team in Melbourne. This is a newly created position within a fast‑growing and strategically important practice. You will manage complex commercial disputes involving multiple stakeholders, technical legal issues and commercial sensitivities. This opportunity is well suited to a senior disputes lawyer seeking genuine leadership responsibility, high‑quality matters and a clear pathway toward partnership. Responsibilities

Managing a diverse portfolio of complex commercial disputes and insolvency matters; Developing and executing sophisticated case strategies; Working closely with Partners, Counsel and a sophisticated client base; Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers; Contributing to business development initiatives and client growth strategies; and Supporting the continued expansion of the practice. Experience in class actions, complex commercial litigation and arbitrations will be highly regarded. Requirements

7+ years’ post‑admission experience in insolvency and/or commercial disputes from a respected mid‑tier or top‑tier firm Strong technical ability and sound commercial judgement Demonstrated mentoring and supervision experience Excellent communication and client relationship management skills A proactive mindset with genuine interest in business development Clear partnership aspirations This is a rare opportunity to join a nationally recognised disputes practice at a senior level, within a firm that genuinely supports progression and long‑term career development.
