Overview
Head of Philanthropy, Partnerships and Communications
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a
major donor
acquisition, retention and stewardship strategy, activating giving from established and new potential major donors.
Manage
grants team
member, grants proposals and reporting.
Explore and establish new income sources including workplace giving, bequests etc.
Prepare key presentations and cases for support.
Plan and host events with CEO to attract and retain donors and partners.
Track progress against fundraising targets, monitoring effectiveness and adjusting plans accordingly.
Provide positive professional leadership, support recruitment of new team members and program development.
Manage Development Committee and attend board meetings.
Keep up to date with fundraising best practice and sector trends, identifying opportunities for growth.
Qualifications
Professional, strategic fundraiser with demonstrated success in major donor acquisition and stewardship in the not-for-profit sector.
Real peopleโs person, who operates with humility, integrity and brings knowledge and insight into philanthropic giving.
Experience of developing and executing fundraising plans.
Experience and knowledge of Salesforce CRM (or others).
Demonstrated people and relationship management experience with the ability to develop and nurture relationships with stakeholders at all levels and in a variety of contexts.
Strong EQ, IQ with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a small, dynamic environment and manage a team of two.
A passion for social causes and a genuine interest in documentaries and storytelling.
Organization and Culture
Documentary Australia is a non-profit established in 2008 with a mission to inspire collective and individual change through storytelling in documentaries. They support Australian filmmakers by partnering with philanthropists and providing sponsorship, training and strategic advice to amplify the impact of documentaries covering key social issues including Environment, Health & Wellbeing, Human Rights & Social Justice, Women & Girls, Indigenous, Youth & Education, and The Arts.
Role & Team
As Head of Philanthropy, Partnerships and Communications, you will be responsible for revenue generation (with a focus on major gifts, grants and partners), donor acquisition, retention, stewardship, and overseeing donor communications and organisational communications. You will work collaboratively with the CEO and manage a team of two, identifying, proposing and confirming donors and partners, while developing and executing strategies for sustainable growth. This role also supports filmmakers in their fundraising through general advice and workshops. The role suits a seasoned professional philanthropy fundraiser with demonstrated experience in major donor acquisition, strong stewardship, communications and leadership skills.
Location & Conditions
Permanent part-time (4 days a week) with hybrid working on offer. Competitive salary with offices located in Paddington, close to public transport links and local cafes. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the major gift fundraising and communications efforts for this unique arts non-profit.
