Senior People & Culture Business Partner
Add expected salary to your profile for insights
Northern Minerals Limited (ASX: NTU) is an Australian heavy rare earths developer with a focus on its Browns Range Project in Western Australia. The project's key deposit, Wolverine, is considered Australia's highest‑grade dysprosium (Dy) and terbium (Tb) orebody, critical materials used in electric vehicle motors, wind turbines, and the broader energy transition.
With strong momentum following the release of our Definitive Feasibility Study, we are laying the groundwork needed to support the next stages of the project and to position the company for future operational readiness.
Joining the project at this formative stage provides a unique opportunity to help build and shape the People & Culture function. You will operate at both strategic and hands‑on levels — ideal for someone who thrives in a transitioning project environment.
What You Will Do
Reporting directly to the Head of People & Culture, you will partner closely to influence, design, and implement the core people systems and frameworks needed to support the next stages of the project and lay the foundations for future operations.
Assist with the design and implementation of a comprehensive HR policy and procedure framework tailored to a remote mine‑site operation.
Support strategic workforce planning and organisational design.
Oversee and coordinate recruitment processes and activities, partnering with internal and external recruitment resources during early hiring stages and mobilisation periods.
Assist in the development of attraction strategies, mobilisation plans, and onboarding frameworks, ensuring induction, compliance, and readiness processes are fit for purpose.
Drive culture, leadership, and capability development activities, and support change, engagement, and retention initiatives across the business.
Lead key People & Culture cycle activities, including performance reviews, remuneration benchmarking, and providing generalist P&C support (performance, conduct, ER/IR and workforce matters).
Support HRIS/LMS implementation, maintain people‑data integrity, and contribute to reporting and dashboards.
Work closely with HSE on training requirements to align competency standards, induction content, and capability needs with workforce requirements.
Support IR governance and compliance and oversee contractor workforce management, including mobilisation and compliance expectations.
What You Bring
Strong HR generalist experience within mining, resources, construction, or major capital projects.
Proven capability in designing and implementing HR frameworks, systems, and processes.
Experience supporting organisations through growth, change, or project ramp‑up.
Strong ER/IR knowledge and the ability to partner effectively with senior leaders.
High competence in HRIS, LMS, process mapping, and continuous improvement.
Resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to work both strategically and hands‑on.
Confidence operating strategically and operationally in a "build phase" environment.
Highly regarded:
HRIS/LMS implementation experience, exposure to FIFO/rostered environments, and early‑stage project backgrounds.
