About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated
General Manager
to join the Master Drilling Australia team based in Perth, Western Australia, reporting into the Chief Operating Officer. This newly created role needs a dynamic leader, passionate about driving the strategic direction of Master Drilling Australia by translating and executing the broader Master Drilling Group Strategy at a local level. You would be responsible for aligning the entity's operations with group objectives, leading the management team, and overseeing planning, operations, maintenance, and support functions to ensure strong business performance and long-term sustainability of our business.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement an operational excellence plan to consistently meet and exceed client expectations.
Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
Drive compliance with the Master Drilling Groupโs SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) strategy and systems.
Promote a strong safety culture through accountability, awareness, and continuous improvement.
Achieve revenue targets and meet all defined financial performance goals.
Oversee adherence to financial systems, controls, and policies to ensure sound fiscal management.
Ensure full compliance with all applicable financial, commercial, and regulatory requirements.
Enforce adherence to contractual commercial terms and internal approval processes.
Prevent financial losses through accurate project costing, effective execution, and disciplined implementation.
Identify and manage financial and commercial risks proactively to protect business interests.
Implement and maintain an accurate and effective asset control system.
Ensure availability of necessary stock and equipment at the right place and time to support project delivery.
Oversee monthly stock and asset audits, ensuring alignment between records and actual site/HQ inventories.
Cultivate a high-performance culture aligned with Master Drilling Australia's values and expectations.
Drive effective implementation and use of HR systems, policies, and tools to support employee development and compliance.
Ensure client satisfaction by defining clear service level agreements and monitoring performance metrics.
About You
Bachelorโs degree in mining engineering or related Engineering field.
Post Graduate qualifications in Finance or Commercial.
Masterโs in business administration (MBA) would be highly desirable.
Current C Class Driverโs License.
Proven track record of successfully leading an organisation to financial growth and sustainability.
5 โ 10 years of experience in the mining or energy sectors, with strong industry insight.
5 โ 10 years of senior management experience, leading high-performing teams.
In-depth knowledge of mechanised drilling, raise boring, and underground mining practices.
Strong expertise in contract management and negotiation.
Solid background in business administration and strategic business development.
Experience with predictive maintenance to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
Strong problem-solving skills and high emotional intelligence for effective team and stakeholder engagement.
Proficient in data analytics tools such as Excel and Power BI.
Skilled in operations monitoring and analysis, including short interval control techniques.
Demonstrated ability in adaptive planning, leadership, organisation, and operational control.
Additional Requirements
Unrestricted rights to work in Australia.
Ability to successfully complete Pre-Employment Medical including drug and alcohol.
Must be able to provide a valid National Police Clearance (less than 6 months old).
