Your New Role

The Manager Government Relations & Public Policy will be responsible for developing the work of Government Relations and Public Policy team on key areas that they responsible for.

These include areas of investment policy, and superannuation policy. In leading this work across the Fund and with external bodies such as SMC and ASFA, work collaboratively with the other Manager Government Relations and Public Policy as well as the Senior Manager Government Relations and Public Policy.

Key duties include but are not limited to:

Undertaking timely, comprehensive and accurate analysis of legislation, regulation and policy proposals that may affect the Fund’s operations in Australia or globally and provide advice to the Head of Government Relations and Public Policy and key executives.

Develop alternative policy proposals for consideration, aligned to the Fund’s purpose, strategy and ambition.

Act as an advocate for the Fund in public policy forums and with Government, including through contributing to the preparation of submissions, reports, briefing material, speeches/talking points.

Consider and propose new advocacy strategies or opportunities to enhance the Fund’s external positioning and the best financial interests of Fund members. Execute them.

Monitor relevant parliamentary proceedings, processes and actors to ensure the Fund is aware of emerging policy and political issues.

Ensure risk is managed in accordance with the Fund’s Risk Management Framework including risk identification and management, risk profiling, risk reporting and incident management.

What You’ll Need

Extensive experience in Government relations and/or experience working as a policy adviser in a portfolio relevant to the Fund’s operations.

A detailed understanding of the history, structure, actors and policy debates pertaining to Australia’s superannuation sector.

Policy and legislative analysis and the ability to identify and advise on the potential impacts of policy change across large, complex organisations.

Preparing and finalising briefing material for executives and public submissions.

The ability to work effectively as part of a high performing team and collaboratively with a range of people at all levels across the business.

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
