Senior Technical Asset Manager

Department:

Asset Management – Technical Asset Management (TAM)

Reports to:

Head of Asset Management

Direct Reports:

Technical Asset Managers; Asset Management Coordinators

Role Purpose The Senior Technical Asset Manager (STAM) is responsible for:

Leading the Technical Asset Management function across a portfolio of solar, BESS and wind assets

Managing and developing the TAM team

Acting as the senior client interface for all Technical Asset Management services

Ensuring compliance with ISO 55001, SOCI SP1, NER and state-based regulatory frameworks

Driving asset performance, risk mitigation and lifecycle optimisation

Integrating technical, financial, compliance and operational inputs into a single coherent client‑facing service

This is a senior leadership role within the Asset Management division, combining:

Technical authority

Client relationship ownership

Compliance accountability

Strategic asset oversight

Key Accountabilities

Lead and develop the Technical Asset Management team

Set portfolio priorities and workload allocation

Mentor and coach TAMs and Coordinators

Conduct performance reviews and development planning

Success measure: A high‑performing, accountable TAM team capable of managing increasing portfolio complexity.

2. Senior Client Relationship Management (Technical Stream)

Act as the primary senior client interface for Technical Asset Management services

Lead quarterly and annual technical reviews

Present technical performance, risks and lifecycle strategies to investors

Deeply understand contractual scopes and ensure delivery aligns with obligations

Manage client expectations and elevate strategic risks proactively

Coordinate cross‑functional responses to complex issues

This role is the

trusted technical partner to investors , not just a reporting function.

Across solar (central inverter), BESS and wind assets:

Oversee availability, performance and degradation analysis

Review and challenge O&M contractor performance

Lead major incident investigations

Oversee warranty and defect management strategy

Approve lifecycle planning and capital forecasting inputs

Ensure robust root cause analysis processes are embedded

4. Compliance & Governance Ensure portfolio compliance with:

ISO 55001 Asset Management principles

SOCI SP1 operational resilience requirements

National Electricity Rules (NER)

Generator Performance Standards (GPS)

State‑based electricity legislation

Development Approval technical conditions

Planning and environmental obligations

Responsibilities include:

Oversight of technical risk registers

Ensuring alarms, incident reporting and documentation are compliant

Supporting internal and external audits

Embedding governance into daily asset management practice

5. Cross-Functional Integration Work closely with:

Data Analytics Team

Validate performance modelling and yield assumptions

Identify systemic technical trends

Improve automated reporting and alarm analytics

Finance Management Team Provide technical inputs into:

Lifecycle capital planning

Insurance claims

Revenue impact analysis of outages

Special Projects Team Escalate and oversee:

Major technical rectification programs

Complex compliance remediation

Ensure technical continuity between BAU and major works

24/7 Control Room

Ensure compliance with NER 4.8/4.9 obligations

6. Strategic Asset Management Planning

Lead technical inputs into Annual Strategic Asset Management Plans

Oversee long‑term degradation and reliability strategy

Identify performance uplift opportunities

Required Experience

10+ years in utility‑scale renewable energy

Proven leadership of technical or asset management teams

Deep understanding of:

BESS operational characteristics

HV systems and grid interface

O&M contract structures

Experience presenting to institutional investors or boards

Critical Knowledge Areas

ISO 55001 Asset Management systems

SOCI Act & SP1 operational resilience requirements

National Electricity Rules (NER)

Generator Performance Standards

State electricity legislation and planning frameworks

Development approval compliance management

Warranty and defect enforcement processes

Leadership Profile This role requires someone who:

Thinks at portfolio level, not plant level

Balances compliance discipline with commercial pragmatism

Drives accountability without micromanaging
