About the role This is a hands on leadership role within our Platform Engineering and DevSecOps team. You will guide a group of engineers who build and run secure, scalable and reliable digital products and platforms. You will take ownership of the technical direction for your domain, support our move from legacy systems to modern cloud based solutions and help uplift engineering practice across the business. You will spend part of your time writing code yourself, ensuring you stay connected to the work and can lead the team from the front.

What you'll do

Build and run cloud native digital products, platforms and integrations that are reliable, secure and ready for growth

Design, develop and maintain applications to ensure they continue to fit business needs

Create well designed API services and ensure identity and security controls are built in

Help modernise our legacy stack and recommend future state architecture

Improve engineering standards, tooling and development processes

Support a strong DevSecOps culture that focuses on automation, continuous delivery and quality

Troubleshoot complex technical problems and guide effective solutions

Review code and uplift development standards across the team

What will you bring? You bring proven experience as a full stack engineer who understands both front end and back-end development and enjoys staying close to the code. You have led and developed software engineering teams, and you are confident operating in both cloud and on-premise environments. You have commercial experience with .NET or NodeJS, React and modern cloud services across Azure and AWS. You are comfortable working in production environments with a strong focus on observability, quality and security. You understand how to bridge legacy systems with modern platforms, and you have the judgement to make good technical decisions in complex environments. You are collaborative, open in your communication and able to coach and inspire others while still delivering high quality technical outcomes
