Senior Solicitor

Overview 12 Month Contract – Launceston, Tasmania

Full time or Part Time

Salary:

pro rata within the range of Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 6 plus employer superannuation contributions.

The Tenants’ Union of Tasmania is a not-for-profit community organisation that represents Tasmania’s residential tenants.

We seek a motivated senior solicitor that is committed to social justice and tenants’ rights to join the Tenants’ Union and conduct our operations in Launceston and the North of Tasmania.

Responsibilities Duties include providing legal advice and assistance, representing tenants in court and TASCAT, law and policy reform, and providing legal education.

Qualifications

Be eligible to hold a practicing certificate in Tasmania;

Have a full, unrestricted drivers’ licence;

Have a requisite level of post-admission experience to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision;

Be able to operate or learn to operate a cloud-based client management system;

Be able to work in a team from a remote location;

Be willing to travel to other parts of the state, in particular North-West Tasmania.
