Senior Software Engineer - API Join Medibank’s Digital Delivery team as a Senior API Developer, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our API ecosystem. This hands‑on development role focuses on delivering high‑quality, scalable, and secure API solutions. You’ll work within agile squads, mentor developers, and champion best practices that drive innovation and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development:

Build and maintain APIs and integration solutions using technologies like SpringBoot, Apache Camel, and microservices.

Technology Leadership:

Set and uphold coding standards, mentor team members, and foster a culture of quality and collaboration.

Agile Delivery:

Participate in sprint planning, user story refinement, and all aspects of agile project delivery.

Quality & Automation:

Contribute to code reviews, improve automation, and implement best practices for secure and efficient delivery.

Support & Innovation:

Provide Level 2 and 3 support for production issues, identify trends, and deliver process improvements and innovation initiatives.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Work closely with product owners, developers, and cross‑functional teams to align API capabilities with business needs.

Must Haves

Experience:

10+ years in API and integration development, with strong expertise in REST, SOAP, and messaging patterns.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Java, GraphQL, Node.js, SpringBoot, Apache Camel, and microservices architecture.

Cloud & DevOps:

Hands‑on experience with AWS services and exposure to DevOps practices in a 24x7 environment.

Integration Knowledge:

Deep understanding of API management, SOA, middleware, and legacy integration techniques.

Tools & Practices:

Familiarity with build and automation tools (Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo) and Agile methodologies.

Collaboration:

Ability to mentor developers and work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
