Melbourne Polytechnic has been delivering vocational training since 1912 as one of the largest education providers in Victoria. TAFE Institutes are regulated by a range of enabling State legislation and as a public entity the Institute must comply with a range of whole‑of‑government laws and policies. As part of a national vocational and education system, TAFEs are also regulated by Commonwealth legislation relating to international students and training quality assurance. The role of the Board is to ensure that the TAFE it governs carries out its mission and achieves its stated objectives prudently, sustainably, ethically and in accordance with relevant laws, regulations and government policy.
There is an opportunity for experienced Board Directors with expertise and experience across the following areas;
Proven ability as a Board or Committee Member.
Proven senior leadership experience across public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, highly regarded.
Experience in vocational and tertiary education environments would be highly valued.
Understanding of industry training needs, important.
Experience across emerging technologies, digital transformation and IT governance with an understanding of artificial intelligent (AI) across enterprise digital transformation and technology, enabled service delivery would be highly regarded.
Membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) or equivalent governance qualification, essential.
