Job Description
Brunet Law | Brisbane | In-office / Hybrid | Part-time or Full-time
Brunet Law is a Brisbane-based boutique firm practising in building and construction, commercial law, insolvency, and disputes. We act predominantly for builders, developers, contractors, and business owners, providing practical, commercially focused advice.
We are seeking a Commercial and Building & Construction Lawyer to join our growing practice. This role is suited to a lawyer who is confident with drafting and advisory work and wants meaningful responsibility, direct client exposure, and a clear pathway to progression.
The Role
You will work closely with the Director team across front-end advisory and transactional matters, with exposure to disputes as they arise.
Your work will include:
Drafting and reviewing building contracts, subcontracts, consultancy agreements, and trade terms and conditions
Advising on variations, delays, extensions of time, payment claims, defects, and contractual risk allocation
Drafting and advising on commercial contracts, including service agreements, supply agreements, shareholder agreements, and asset sale documentation
Providing clear, commercially grounded advice to clients (often builders and business owners)
Assisting with dispute strategy and preparation where matters elevate to litigation, adjudication, or insolvency contexts
Managing files with increasing autonomy, with appropriate supervision and support
About You
This role is designed for a lawyer who:
Has experience in commercial law, building and construction, or a related practice area
Is confident drafting contracts and advising clients, not just researching or assisting
Communicates clearly and practically with clients
Enjoys responsibility and wants to be trusted with real work and real clients
The Firm & What We Offer
Brunet Law is intentionally boutique and commercially focused. We offer:
High-quality work without large-firm bureaucracy
Direct access to clients and decision-makers
Flexible working arrangements (part-time or full-time, in-office or hybrid)
A supportive environment with real mentoring and skill development
Exposure to commercial, construction and disputes matters
Salary commensurate with experience
