Senior Construction Lawyer – Front End (4+ PAE)

On behalf of a valued client, I am assisting in the appointment of a Senior Construction Lawyer to join their specialist construction law practice.
An established and highly regarded specialist construction law practice is seeking an experienced front-end Construction Lawyer (4+ PAE) to join its growing team.
This role centers on drafting and negotiating Australian Standard construction contracts (including AS 4000, AS 4300 and AS 4902), strategic risk allocation, and project advisory work across significant building and infrastructure matters.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in complex infrastructure transactions within a genuinely specialist environment.
The Role
Drafting and negotiating Australian Standard head contracts and subcontracts
Advising on procurement strategies, tenders, head contracts, subcontracts and consultancy agreements
Providing strategic contract review and risk allocation advice on high-value projects
Supporting contract administration and live project advisory matters
Working closely with sophisticated developer, contractor and principal clients across the full project lifecycle
About You
4+ years’ post-admission experience (PAE) in construction, infrastructure and major projects within reputable private practice
Admission to practise law in Australia, with full Australian work rights
Strong front-end construction experience, including drafting and negotiating Australian Standard contracts (AS 4000, AS 2124, AS 4300, AS 4902) and related project documentation
Proven capability advising on procurement, tenders, contract negotiation and broader commercial law matters
Experience preparing and negotiating deeds and complex project agreements across infrastructure projects
Exposure to construction disputes, with the ability to anticipate and mitigate risk at the drafting stage
Commercially astute, confident dealing directly with clients and comfortable taking ownership of matters
Collaborative, detail-oriented and genuinely interested in specialist construction practice
