Rolleston Open Cut is a 16Mtpa thermal coal mine located in the southern Bowen Basin in Central Queensland. With a long life of mine and low operating costs, the mine has a bright outlook. Job Description About the Role An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic and successful Maintenance team at Rolleston Open Cut. Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, you will play a key role in strengthening asset performance, maintenance strategy and reliability outcomes across site. As a valued member of the team, you will be responsible for:

Providing technical advice and engineering support across the business

Actively reviewing and improving engineering standards, procedures and maintenance strategies to enhance safety, equipment performance and productivity

Monitoring equipment performance metrics and identifying targeted improvement initiatives

Leading and facilitating reliability processes including FMECA and Root Cause Analysis

Maintaining awareness of industry best practice and sharing learnings across the business

Supporting budget and forecast processes related to sustaining capital and maintenance expenditure

Mentoring and supporting engineers, planners and reliability personnel to build technical capability on site

About you The be successful in this role, you will have:

Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

Strong technical capability supported by well‑developed professional judgement and practical site experience

The ability to prioritise competing work demands, manage resources effectively and think strategically beyond immediate tasks

Demonstrated problem‑solving capability

Experience working with maintenance management systems such as SAP (or equivalent CMMS)

Sound understanding of maintenance strategy principles and asset lifecycle management

The ability to translate operational data into actionable improvement strategies

Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across operational and leadership teams

High level of initiative, accountability and ownership

An excellent safety mindset with the ability to positively influence culture and performance at Rolleston
