Job Description

Overview

We are looking for a Finance Team Leader to lead our finance function and support strong financial performance across Kalis Group. You will be a visible, hands on leader who develops people, sets clear standards, and builds a high performing finance team. About the company Kalis Group is a private Tasmanian owned organisation made up of three connected branches Property, Fresh Cut, and Kalis Hospitality. We are proud of being local, hands on and community minded, with teams who care about doing things properly and looking after each other. Our hospitality arm, Kalis Hospitality, is known for delivering exceptional experiences, every time across a large network of venues, supported by bottle shops and operational sites. Fresh Cut provides production capability that supports quality and consistency, and our Property arm underpins growth and long term investment across the group. Together, we are building a diversified Tasmanian business that values stability, practical improvement and strong relationships. Our values Respect, Community, Growth and Honesty guide how we lead, communicate and make decisions. We back our people with support, clear expectations, and opportunities to learn and step up. The opportunity

Step into a key leadership role with real scope to lift performance across our finance team and help leaders make confident, data driven decisions. You will work closely with the Group Accountant, Property Manager and General Manager of Hospitality to strengthen reporting, improve cash flow discipline, and keep deadlines and compliance on track. This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys coaching, lifting capability, and creating accountability through clear expectations and support. What we offer

We give our people everything they need to succeed. Join our Tasmanian hospitality community, a place where you can be yourself, share your ideas, support your personal growth and wellbeing, and be a valued member of an inspirational team. You’ll be rewarded for your hard work with a range of benefits that support you throughout your career journey: A supportive team culture where your insights shape how we roster and run our venues. Cashback at hundreds of stores via our SWAG employee app. Employee Perks Program – discounts at bottle shops, venues and accommodation. EAP for you and your immediate family. Networking events, development days and upskilling opportunities. What you will do

Lead regular one on ones, team check ins, and coaching to build capability and confidence. Set clear goals and role clarity across the team, and manage performance in a fair and supportive way. Supervise invoicing, collections and credit management to support strong cash flow across the group. Drive deadlines and accountability across weekly, monthly and statutory reporting requirements. Own end of month processes including reconciliations, accruals, reporting, and coordination of audit requirements. Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis, turning data into practical insights for leaders. Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning in partnership with operational leaders. Drive improvements in finance systems, processes and reporting, including smarter automation and stronger controls. Support grant applications and apprenticeship schemes through accurate reporting, documentation and coordination. Partner closely with the Group Accountant, Property Manager and General Manager of Hospitality to support strategic decision making. What you will bring

At least 3 years experience in a management role within the Finance sector. Proven experience leading a team through change, building engagement and accountability. Confidence managing performance, having direct conversations, and lifting standards with respect. A coaching mindset and track record of developing others and improving team capability. Strong capability across cash flow management, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections and credit control. Solid understanding of month end, accruals, audit support and compliance requirements. Strong analytical skills and confidence translating financial information into clear recommendations. Excellent written and verbal communication and a collaborative approach with stakeholders at all levels. High attention to detail, strong integrity, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
