Job Description
The Head of Finance is responsible for establishing, leading and operating the financial infrastructure of the xWise Group during a period of rapid organisational growth. The role provides hands‑on leadership across all financial operations, reporting, project finance, cashflow management, and financial governance. This position ensures the Group’s business units and development projects are supported by accurate data, disciplined processes, and reliable financial insights.
The Head of Finance will build and manage the internal finance function, uplift financial systems and processes, and deliver Group‑wide reporting that supports strategic and operational decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
Build and lead the Group finance team.
Establish financial processes, procedures, and internal controls across all entities and projects.
Define and implement a month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end reporting cadence.
Produce consolidated monthly management reports for the Group and each business unit.
Own the accuracy of entity‑level P&Ls, balance sheets, cashflows, and intercompany reconciliations.
Maintain the Group financial model, including scenario analysis and funding forecasts.
Ensure compliance with statutory, audit and tax requirements.
Development & Project Finance
Oversee project financials including cost tracking, cost‑to‑complete, accruals, margin analysis, and revenue forecasting.
Standardise PCG packs across all development projects.
Review and approve lender drawdown submissions.
Monitor job‑cost performance and systems alignment using Evolve and Xero.
Partner with Development Directors and Management on project planning, risks and financial performance.
Cashflow, Funding & Capital
Manage Group cashflow, liquidity planning, and daily/weekly cash oversight.
Oversee funding requirements across operating entities.
Support strategic capital initiatives in partnership with the Head of Capital and CIO (Wholesale).
Maintain financial readiness for future institutional capital processes.
Systems, Data & Process Uplift
Optimise Xero structure across all entities (chart of accounts, intercompany, workflows).
Oversee working integration of Evolve and Xero for BuildXWise.
Establish high‑integrity Excel cost reporting frameworks.
Implement reporting automation where possible (Xero exports, PowerQuery, templates).
Business Partnering
Support department heads with financial insights, budget reviews, and spend accountability.
Provide commercial advice to improve margins and operational efficiency.
Champion financial discipline across all XWise business units.
Required Experience
10–15+ years finance experience with at least 5 years in a senior finance role.
Experience in property development, residential construction, or funds/property finance.
Deep expertise in Xero (multi‑entity) and Excel‑based modelling.
Experience with project cost reporting, feasibilities, and lender submissions.
Demonstrated experience implementing financial systems, processes, and teams.
Ability to operate hands‑on while also lifting reporting and governance.
High accountability and systems mindset.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ability to operate in a fast‑paced founder‑led environment.
Strong team leadership and mentoring ability.
