Salaried GP - 4 Sessions Per Week - Up to £11,250 Per Session
Bugbrooke Medical Practice is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our clinical team for 4 sessions per week. The post-holder will provide a full range of primary medical services as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to our diverse patient population.
The successful candidate will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care and all statutory requirements are met.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care and all statutory requirements are met.
Key Clinical Duties
Consultations:
Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and digital consultations for patients with acute and chronic conditions.
Clinical Management:
Assess, diagnose, treat, and refer patients appropriately, including the management of long-term conditions.
Prescribing:
Issue computer-generated prescriptions in accordance with the local formulary and Northamptonshire CCG/ICB guidelines.
Referrals:
Utilize the Electronic Referral Service (e‑RS) and follow local pathways for secondary care referrals.
Administration:
Clinical correspondence, pathology results, and medication reviews effectively within allocated administrative time. You will only be responsible for self‑generated admin.
Home Visits:
You will not be expected to participate in the Practice's home visiting rota.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Duties

Clinical Management: Assess, diagnose, treat, and refer patients appropriately, including the management of long‑term conditions.

Administration (self‑generated only): Action clinical correspondence, pathology results, and medication reviews effectively within allocated administrative time.
Quality and Safety
QOF & IIF: Contribute to the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets and Investment and Impact Fund (IIF) indicators.
Clinical Audit: Participate in clinical audits to monitor and improve the quality of care provided.
Significant Events: Report and participate in the investigation of significant events and "near misses" as part of the practice's learning culture.
Safeguarding: Act as a champion for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, following local Northamptonshire safeguarding protocols.
Professional Development
Appraisal & Revalidation: Maintain GMC registration and participate in an annual NHS appraisal and the 5‑yearly revalidation process.
CPD: Engage in continuing professional development and attend practice educational meetings.
Person Specification
Qualifications
MBChB or equivalent medical degree.
Completion of GP Vocational Training (GPSTR) and holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP).
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and on the GP Register.
Included on the NHS England National Performers List.
Evidence of further post‑graduate diplomas (e.g., DRCOG, DCH, DFFP/DFSRH).
Post‑graduate qualification in Medical Education or leadership.
High level of clinical decision‑making and risk management skills.
Up‑to‑date knowledge of NICE guidelines, QOF, and evidence‑based medicine.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Strong IT literacy, including experience with electronic prescribing and the Electronic Referral Service (e‑RS).
Effective time management with the ability to manage a clinical workload and self‑generated administration within a 4‑session structure.
Commitment to high‑quality, patient‑centred care and the values of the NHS.
Proficiency in using SystmOne clinical software.
Competence in specialised clinical procedures (e.g., joint injections, LARC/coil fitting).
Understanding of Primary Care Network (PCN) working and IIF indicators.
Experience in conducting clinical audits and Quality Improvement (QI) projects.
Experience
Recent experience of working as a GP within the UK National Health Service (NHS).
Proven track record of managing both acute and chronic conditions safely in a primary care setting.
Evidence of successful annual NHS appraisal and progress towards/completion of GMC revalidation.
Experience in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults (L3).
Experience working in a rural or dispensing practice environment.
Experience in a specific clinical lead area or special interest (e.g., Diabetes, Dermatology, or Minor Surgery).
Previous experience in a Training Practice environment.
