Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

QIC is seeking two experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our high performing Brisbane team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will work collaboratively across the Legal team to provide legal advice and services to QIC’s global business, across jurisdictions, investment teams and business units in line with the global distribution strategy. Key responsibilities will include:

Providing timely advice on legal matters and commercial risks in relation to investment activities with a focus on transactions, fund structuring and financing. Drafting and negotiating various legal documents and providing strategic advice to protect QIC from legal risk. Managing legal aspects of transactions and negotiations in collaboration with investment professionals and other stakeholders across business units (including Infrastructure, Real Estate, Client Solutions and Capital, Private Debt and Government Initiatives). Assisting with legal services arising from investment pipelines to support fund and trust establishment and provide ongoing legal support to mitigate and manage risk during investment processes. Assisting in supporting the business in an advisory capacity in respect of enterprise legal risks, contracting, regulatory, operational and policy advice, ESG, licensing and organisational structuring and strategic initiatives.. About You

You’re known for building strong relationships, adapting your approach to meet stakeholder needs and priorities, and navigating complex issues with a commercial mindset. Your background likely includes: Experience in a commercial legal environment and exposure to M&A, fund establishment and management, trusts, SMAs, real estate transactions, debt financing, banking, or projects will be considered favorably. Strong problem solving capability with the ability to identify issues early, evaluate options and escalate matters effectively. Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a team environment. A track record of implementing improved systems, processes or solutions. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm, composed and solutions focused. A law degree and an unrestricted practising certificate.
