This position is a fixed-term, full-time appointment for five (5) years.
The East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) is seeking an exceptional, driven and passionate individual with a track record of successful leadership to take on the fulfilling and highly rewarding position of Chief Executive.
As one of the largest health services in Western Australia, the EMHS network collaborates to provide tertiary, secondary and specialist healthcare services.
This includes emergency and critical care, state major trauma, elective and emergency surgery, general medical, mental health, inpatient and outpatient services, aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation, and women's, children's and neonates' services.
The EMHS hospital and community network consists of: Armadale Kalamunda Group, Royal Perth, Bentley Group, Public Private partnership with St John of God Health Care, Midland, Mount Lawley. The EMHS provides East CareConnect, delivering virtual hospital services to our community, as well as a range of mental health, community services and population health programs, including Aboriginal health programs facilitated both within and outside of our catchment area.
The EMHS is a Board governed statutory authority that is legally responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, high-quality, efficient and economical health services to WA.
Position Profile
Based in Perth, the Chief Executive is accountable for the strategic and operational delivery of health services within the EMHS, as well as continuing to deliver on the EMHS Strategic Plan.

The EMHS Strategic Plan sets out the future direction and aspirations for the health service, in alignment with the overarching health system vision for delivery of safe, quality, financially sustainable and accountable health care for all Western Australians.
The Chief Executive also contributes to the overall strategic leadership of the WA health system and achievement of whole of health system outcomes including delivery of recommendations from the and .
The Chief Executive is employed by the Director General, Department of Health, and reports to both the Director General and the Chair of the EMHS Board.
The successful applicant will have a proven track record in executive leadership in a large, complex health care organisation and possess a wide range of expertise including:
Demonstrated track record in transformational leadership
Demonstrated results and achievements in ensuring optimal patient outcomes, organisational wide governance and policy standards
Excellent commercial acumen
Strong operational and financial management skills
Strong communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills
Ability to inspire and drive high-performing teams
Proven analytical, strategic and problem-solving skills
Experience in large scale hospital redevelopment commissioning would also be advantageous.
The Chief Executive is employed by the Director General, Department of Health and reports to both the Director General and the EMHS Board Chair.
