Job Description
As the APAC Treasurer, you’ll be the strategic mastermind behind our treasury operations in APAC. You’ll lead and inspire the Treasury front‑office and operations teams in Australia while influencing all treasury activities throughout the region. This role offers the opportunity to maximise client fund interest income and navigate the exciting landscape of financial negotiations.
A role you will love
You will spearhead treasury budgeting, forecasting, and cash management activities, ensuring our financial strategies are not just sound but visionary. With your keen eye for detail, you’ll manage all monthly reporting related to treasury activities and foster strong banking relationships, navigating risk management with finesse.
The operations team, under your leadership, will ensure timely and accurate payments across the region. You’ll oversee treasury payments and provide indirect guidance to line‑of‑business payments, driving excellence in operational reporting, liquidity management, and compliance with Computershare’s treasury policies.
This pivotal role will report directly to the Global Head of Treasury Operations, with a collaborative connection to the Corporate Treasurer based in Australia, placing you at the heart of our global strategy.
Key Accountabilities
Define banking partners in Australia in line with business needs and discuss strategic elements of relationships and performance with banks – client funds only.
Identify and negotiate the appropriate client funds banking solutions based on client needs.
Outline the strategy for managing foreign exchange risk and negotiate price for client funds and implement the strategy.
Initiate Australian trade/transaction instruction.
Execute on surplus and deficit in cash positions to determine cash movements, investments and borrowings in Australia.
Invest excess Australian cash in short‑ and long‑term facilities.
Ensure bank accounts are sufficiently funded to meet short‑term financial obligations.
Quantify exposure – valuations of all financial products including derivatives, debt & investment.
Work with the business to identify regional risks such as foreign exchange exposures.
Manage a team of analysts covering Australian middle‑office processes: bank account management, compliance, controls and KPIs, and treasury accounting.
Manage a team of analysts covering Australian back‑office processes such as payments and bank reconciliations.
Lead, develop and motivate a regional team of Treasury Analysts.
Act as a subject‑matter expert and contribute to strategic Group wide projects including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and other business transactions.
What you will bring to the role
Degree‑educated or equivalent qualification or experience.
Experience in treasury in a regional environment and the regulatory landscape.
Experience in developing and implementing client treasury strategies in a global organisation, with direct experience of the treasury framework in regional jurisdictions.
Previous management‑level experience.
Experience overseeing regional financial management and fiscal health of the organisation.
Preferred
Relevant Treasury and/or accounting qualifications (ACT/AMCT and/or CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CFA, MBA or similar).
