Lead the build of a modern, scalable Enterprise Data Platform supporting analytics, BI and AI across the organisation
About the Role:
The Head of Data Platform & Engineering is a senior position responsible for spearheading the design, development, and implementation of Enterprise Data Platform in alignment with BaptistCare's Data and Analytics (D&A) Strategy. In this role, you will collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including the D&A team, technology teams, Azure specialists, and business representatives. Your primary focus will be to deliver and implement detailed designs, uphold data engineering standards, and develop comprehensive plans. Additionally, you will produce business‑aligned data assets, mentor and guide fellow data engineers, and ensure the quality and consistency of data solutions.

The Information and Digital function enables BaptistCare to achieve its mission by delivering reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that support care, operations, and innovation. Through enterprise architecture, cyber and IT risk management, digital service delivery, data and analytics, and applications management, the function ensures BaptistCare is digitally enabled, insight‑driven, and resilient.
About You:
Significant experience in leading Data Engineering practice in a complex/multi‑faceted organisation
Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Data, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
Strong understanding of modern data engineering practices, including data integration, transformation, automation, and DevOps
Proven track record of enforcing standards in data management and delivering broader data strategy
Knowledge of data governance, security, and ethical data practices
Experience supporting machine learning and AI platforms in a production environment is highly regarded
Relevant industry certifications (cloud, data engineering, or platform architecture) are desirable but not essential
Experience with Python and/or R
Experience with Snowflake or other cloud‑based data platforms
Microsoft Azure, data platform, and SQL certifications
Experience within healthcare, aged care, or human services environments.
