About the role
We are seeking a
Legal Counsel
to join our Legal team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will have a key focus on employment and industrial relations law, while also providing support across other legal matters for Tennis Australia and its Member Associations. You will partner closely with our People team and business leaders to navigate complex workplace matters, mitigate risk, and support sound decision-making across the organisation.
In this role you will:
Partner with stakeholders to provide strategic legal advice on employment and industrial relations matters
Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, policies, and workplace documentation to support the Australian tennis strategy
Manage workplace disputes, including Fair Work Commission matters and external litigation
Monitor legislative developments, conduct legal research, and deliver education and training to key stakeholders
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
A minimum of 3+ years post admission experience working as a lawyer within a law firm or in-house legal team with a focus on employment/IR law
Hold a principal practicing certificate or be willing to upgrade your current practicing certificate to a principal practicing certificate within the first 3 months in the role (essential)
Experience advising on employment law and industrial relations and contracting matters (essential)
Proven experience in contract drafting and negotiations
Exceptional analytical and communication skills, enabling you to provide practical, solutions-focused advice and influence senior stakeholders
Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current
Police Check
and
Working with Children Check
Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia
