Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA). This role is required to contribute to the achievement of the RTA strategic objectives through provision of high quality and timely legal services and conducting litigation on behalf of the RTA.
This position is a fixed-term, full-time role until 30 October 2026 and is located in the Brisbane CBD with generous flexible working arrangements.
Role
The Senior Lawyer provides high level quality legal services across the RTA, responding quickly and effectively to non-routine and urgent matters requiring legal advice.
To Be Successful You Will Need
A law degree and admission (or immediate eligibility for admission) to the Supreme Court of Queensland
Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate legal advice on a range of complex matters
Demonstrated litigation experience, before Courts and Tribunals
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting legal documents, submissions, briefing notes, Ministerial responses and statutory correspondence
The ability to identify legal risks and opportunities for operational or policy improvement, and escalate insights promptly and constructively to management
Effective stakeholder engagement skills
Whilst not essential, 4+ years post qualification experience, including at least 2 years in house experience; public sector and governance experience is highly regarded.
