Senior Solicitor - Regulatory

Overview u&u Recruitment Partners are partnering with a leading Victorian regulator seeking a Senior Solicitor – Regulatory to join its Legal, Governance and Regulatory Policy function on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organisational uplift across legal, governance, procurement, and regulatory functions, ideal for a proactive, skilled lawyer ready to make a tangible impact.

This is a high-impact in-house role for a mid-level lawyer (3-7 years’ PQE) who enjoys working at the intersection of law, policy and regulation, and who wants their work to make a genuine difference to the safety and wellbeing of the community.

The Opportunity

Drafting and reviewing regulatory and coercive instruments (e.g. directions, notices, prohibition instruments)

Advising on complex statutory interpretation and administrative decision-making

Supporting regulatory powers, enforcement and compliance frameworks

Managing administrative law and review matters (including VCAT)

Briefing and instructing external Counsel and law firms

Leading legal and compliance projects and training initiatives

Engaging with senior stakeholders, regulated entities and government partners

About You You are a confident, solutions-focused lawyer who enjoys working in a dynamic regulatory environment. Experience working with regulators, government, or complex statutory schemes will be highly regarded.

Admission as an Australian Lawyer and eligibility for a Victorian practising certificate

Substantial post-admission experience (in-house and/or private practice)

Strong administrative / regulatory law capability

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The ability to provide clear, practical advice to non-lawyers and executives
