IT Team Lead

TR Group is a market leader in heavy vehicle rental and leasing, with a strong focus on people, service, and innovation. We’re looking for a talented IT Team Lead to join our growing Australian business and play a key role in shaping the future of our IT operations.

The Role This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll oversee our helpdesk and application support functions, while also rolling up your sleeves to solve technical issues. You’ll lead a motivated IT team, ensure our systems are reliable and accessible, and drive a culture of collaboration, growth, and client‑focused service.

You’ll work closely with the Group IT Manager (based in New Zealand) and senior leaders in Australia, helping to implement IT strategy, improve processes, and deliver projects that keep our business moving forward.

What You’ll Do

Lead, mentor, and grow the Australian IT support team

Oversee helpdesk and application support operations

Provide clear communication on technical issues for non-technical audiences

Work closely with Group IT leadership to implement changes and improvements

Deliver key IT projects on time, with strong planning and reporting

Resolve tickets and provide hands‑on support when needed

Maintain and improve documentation, systems, and reporting

Establish and improve ITIL‑aligned practices

Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, reporting, and monitoring

Ideally we are looking for

5+ years of hands‑on IT experience in a mid-size or larger multi‑site environment

Proven leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and developing people

Strong technical knowledge across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and on‑premise services (certifications like Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator a plus)

Solid understanding of networking (CCNP or similar preferred)

Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Service Desk, etc.)

Familiarity with ITIL or comparable ITSM frameworks

Excellent communication skills – able to translate complex issues into plain language

A proactive, collaborative mindset with a drive for continuous improvement

Willingness to travel to New Zealand quarterly (2–5 days at a time)
