They are hiring a practical

Aerospace Mechanical Engineer

to step into a Senior role for the structures team. This is a hands-on technical position with mentorship responsibilities, reporting to Senior Engineering Management.

You’ll bridge design and manufacturing reality: guiding junior engineers, performing quick first-principles verification, running hand calcs alongside FEA, and working directly on the shop floor to resolve fabrication issues and get parts built fast.

Mechanical Aerospace Engineer Responsibilities

Develop structural designs that are manufacturable and quickly validated using first principles

Perform and review classical stress analysis for rapid confidence verification

Guide and mentor 1-2 junior engineers, including reviewing their work

Ensure designs are sound, manufacturable, and quickly validated using first principles

Run FEA models when needed, but prioritise speed and practicality over over-reliance on simulation

Collaborate directly with the manufacturing floor to solve real-time fabrication and assembly challenges

Bridge the gap between engineering drawings and physical hardware

You’ll have autonomy to drive daily technical decisions and workflow, not just execute tasks.

Mechanical Aerospace Engineer Requirements The hiring team is specifically looking for demonstrable hands-on aerospace structures experience. Someone who understands real aircraft stress analysis deeply, not at a surface level.

You should be comfortable:

Applying the “Hand Calc” mindset: verifying designs quickly using classic stress analysis methods for fast answers

Working with aerospace structures and understanding basics of DASA/FAR standards.

Mentoring and reviewing work from junior engineers

Walking onto the workshop floor to troubleshoot and resolve fabrication issues on the spot
