About North East Link The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project, including twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges. The Central Package, delivered as a Public Private Partnership, will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion while maintaining local roads.

About The Opportunity Are you a skilled Senior Electrical Project Engineer with a passion for large-scale infrastructure projects? Spark North East Link is seeking a dedicated MEI Senior Project Engineer in the electrical space to join our dynamic construction team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee electrical aspects of the North East Link project at all stages of the project life cycle: preliminary planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover of HV, LV, lighting, communication, fibre and electrical system packages. These systems are pivotal for safe and efficient operation of road tunnels.

The Engineering function also will manage subcontract packages and promote digital delivery practices, optimizing project performance and achieving goals.

Key Responsibilities

Project Lifecycle Management – Lead and contribute to all phases: preliminary planning, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover of HV, LV, lighting, communication, fibre and electrical systems.

System Design & Engineering – Review design documents, perform constructability and commissioning reviews, and ensure compliance with project-specific requirements, codes, and regulations while optimizing performance.

Project Delivery & Management – Develop and submit construction and commissioning work packs, manage subcontractor budgets, and ensure seamless coordination between internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders. Provide technical support and innovative solutions to onsite technical issues.

Compliance & Quality Assurance – Ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, and regulations. Conduct quality assurance inspections and prepare documentation to demonstrate compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering.

Minimum 7 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in infrastructure or construction.

Proven delivery experience on large-scale infrastructure projects over $50M.

Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.

Strong project management skills (prioritisation, deadline management).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards and regulations.
