About the role: Australia's firearm regulations are widely regarded as a global benchmark, yet systematic gaps remain and addressing them is key to preventing future firearm related tragedies.

On 1 July 2024, the National Firearms Register (NFR) Program commenced. The NFR will function as a unified system, drawing information from existing Commonwealth, state and territory firearms registries, portals and management platforms into one centralised database. This will provide national oversight by providing a clear end to end view of firearms, ownership and licensing information across all states and territories. The NFR will enhance police and community safety and improve law enforcement capability.

The Data Quality Officers are integral to the success of the Victorian segment of the National Firearms Register. These positions will support the analysing, identifying, verifying and cleansing of data to prepare it for integration from the existing Victorian register into the nationally centralised database.

To be successful in this role you will need to be detail-focused, confident with systems, and comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment handling sensitive information.

Your duties will include:

Performing data analysis tasks including data entry, identification, verification and cleaning datasets to meet national standards

Ensuring data quality standards and procedures are adhered to

Providing timely, accurate, and well-presented information to support informed decision making by management

Identifying and communicating trends and improvements to enhance data cleansing activities

Contributing to the overall successful delivery of the program.

About You:

Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to data entry and validation

A positive team focused mindset and willingness to support others

Being able to work in a team environment and meeting set deadlines

Experience in handling data in a sensitive and confidential environment

Confident in using Microsoft Office and willing to learn other internal systems and tools

Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently and collaboratively

Exposure to working withi n a dynamic project environment with shifting priorities and updating processes

Ability to perform assign tasks within a structured high volume processing environment

Proven ability to communicate effectively with other team members and open to learning new ways of working

Further Information:

Six (6) x full-time, Fixed Term positions until June 2028.

This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
