About Us
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South‑East Qld. The Oral Health service teams work to improve access to dental care for IUIH and Member Services, with a particular focus on empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals. The service aims to promote oral health, support family well‑being, and ensure the delivery of high‑quality, culturally appropriate oral health services for all clients through integrated holistic care.
About the Role
The position is responsible for delivering improved oral health outcomes in the Indigenous communities who are patients of IUIH Member (ATSICHS) services. The role provides dental, education and training services to clients within the context of a comprehensive primary health care service. Service delivery occurs from designated primary clinic locations and via outreach as required. Full‑time and part‑time positions are available.
Provide quality education and instruction on diet and other aspects of dental care.
Assist in the development and implementation of oral health promotion, education and awareness activities.
Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications where required.
Perform comprehensive patient diagnoses, assessments, treatments, repairs and contribute to better health outcomes for clients.
Ensure that dental care is in line with national ethical, legal and standard requirements for dental care.
About You
Willingness and availability to work on Saturdays.
Current AHPRA registration.
Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry.
Professional medical indemnity insurance.
Current C‑class driver’s licence (Qld).
Desirable, but not mandatory
Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities.
