Key Responsibilities
Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders and project teams.
Enhance and streamline cost control tools, processes, and procedures.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior cost control staff.
Partner with project managers and budget holders to support effective financial oversight.
Prepare timely and accurate periodic cost reports in consultation with internal teams.
Coordinate with engineering teams to clarify discrepancies and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.
Monitor expenditures, analyse variances, and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
Forecast costs for project line items in collaboration with project teams.
Assess potential variations and claims from subcontractors and vendors.
Support ad hoc cost analyses and participate in project review meetings as required.
Act as a liaison between engineering, accounts, and project teams to ensure financial clarity.
Recommend process improvements for more effective cost control.
Build and maintain historical cost databases for future reference.
Solve complex issues using both technical expertise and business acumen.
Communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation, adapting messaging to suit diverse audiences.
About You
Several years of experience in the cost control function within the Oil & Gas or related process industries, ideally on international, large-scale projects with progressively increasing responsibilities, including team leadership.
A background in Quantity Surveying is highly regarded.
Demonstrated expertise in cost control with fully developed technical competencies.
Capable of establishing and enhancing standards, procedures, and processes.
Experienced in developing project budgets aligned with standardised structures.
Skilled in producing accurate cost forecasts to support project management objectives.
Performs comprehensive variance analysis, including quantities, costs, labour hours, and productivity metrics.
Ensures the accuracy and quality of deliverables produced by junior team members.
Strong understanding of estimating methodologies and practices.
Proficient in reviewing and refining estimates for changes in project scope or trends.
Thorough knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) requirements across all project phases.
