Job Description

Your role at St John of God Health Care Our Legal team has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Lawyer or Senior Lawyer to join the in-house team on a 12 month fixed term contract (covering Parental Leave). The position may be based in either our Perth or Melbourne office. We have a hybrid working model in place which allows you to work 60% in the office and 40% at home.

The Position

Provision of strategic and technical advice to a large-scale compliance project team including:

coordinating the provision of advice to the organisation from external legal providers;

preparation of instructions and brief to external solicitors and Counsel, and liaising with external advisors;

working collaboratively with other functions to provide legal project management support and

presentations to the Chief People Officer, the Chief Risk Officer, the Group Chief Executive Officer and other forums as required.

Provision of legal advice in a wide range of areas with a focus on employment law, including award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation.

Management of, and advising on risk exposure in relation to claims.

Drafting and reviewing policy and procedures.

You will be qualified to act as a legal practitioner in Australia, possess a current Practising Certificate and have at least six years’ post admission experience if applying for a Senior Lawyer position and three years' post admission experience if applying for a Lawyer position, encompassing some of the above listed disciplines.

You will have the ability to quickly integrate with, and work as part of the existing legal team and the wider business, along with a pro‑active approach in dealing with matters and being able to respond to emerging issues are pivotal to this position.

You will possess a strong attention to detail and the ability to balance competing priorities and work well under pressure.

It is highly regarded if you have experience in employment law.
